Many people ask me how I came up with my inventions . Well there is a story behind each one of them which I’ll share with you below.
THE EAST SEAT ICE CHEST

Sitting on the ice chest enjoying a beach BBQ with friends is my idea of a perfect summer’s day that is if you’re not asked to get up constantly so someone can get food or drink out of the Ice Chest. Well that’s what happened to me. No sooner had I sat down on the Ice Chest than my wife would ask for ice, a drink, food and I’d be up and down all day. That night I thought there has to be a way that I could stay seated and still access food and drinks. By the next morning I had designed the Ice Chest with side opening bins for easy access and which also retains the cool air more efficiently as you can only open one side if you need to. The Ice Chest has Australian and US patent protection.
THE KFS EASY EAT PLATE

Once again at a BBQ standing around with a drink in my hand enjoying the hospitality the host asked whether I would like something to eat. I looked around, there was nowhere to sit and eat or to put my drink. I declined and went home hungry, that evening I designed the Plate, I gave my book keeper a sample who gave it to her aged mother in a nursing home,. She loved the idea as she could rest the plate on her arm and it was less effort than eating from a plate on the table. The plate has now been adapted for use in rehabilitation and aged care facilities.
THE KFS EASY EAT UNTENSIL

A close friend returned from having dinner with his friend who had had his right arm amputated from the elbow. He said that he had noticed how it was so difficult for him to eat with having to pick up a knife to cut and then a fork to eat. Wouldn’t it be great to have a utensil that would assist people such as his friend to eat with ease and dignity he said. Again during the course of that evening I designed the KFS utensil.
THE “NO BUTTS ABOUT IT”

While visiting a friend in hospital, I noticed many patients standing outside smoking and then just throwing their cigarette butts on the ground. It was both unsightly and polluted the area. Let’s give smokers the opportunity to be environmentally friendly I thought. I designed a small round container with a hole in the side that the cigarette is place in, when the top is turned this extinguishes the cigarette, the smoker can then place the container in their pocket until such time they can dispose of up to 20 cigarettes in to a waste container.
MOSQUITOFREE

In October 1998, after contracting Ross River Fever, I became interested in the control of mosquito’s. I purchased the business of Mozzie Free Pty Ltd the original Australian manufacturer of a gas operated “trap” but found the price of the product prohibitive to the consumer market at $499.00 and $25.00 per month for service cost. I then redesigned the trap and created a brew formula that would take place of the CO2 gas Trap at a price much less than the gas operated trap and at a far less monthly service cost.
Development trials were carried out over a 12 month period. In 2001 I tested the market place in Australia with positive results, at the same time exporting the traps to Louisiana, Texas and Florida in the USA for efficacy trials. All trials were successful and more than 200 traps were sold at $149.00 USD.
In 2001-2003 while still doing additional R&D, I took the trap to Singapore. Following efficacy trials there, I consulted with the leading University in the world on mosquito control based in Penang and was successful in selling an additional 500 traps to the local market.
From 2003 to Nov 2007 I sought to redesign the trap and brew to what it is today investing more than $750,000 AUD of self funded expenditure a 5 year period.
MEDIA

LifeinStyle Products enjoyed a strong exposure in 2005 on Florida Channel 2, 5.30 pm which generated 160 e mails from interested parties in the USA within a 2 hour period of exposure with around 1000 traps exported into the USA.
In late October 2006 LifeinStyle Products was featured on the Channel 9 - 5.30 news in Queensland and sold 150 traps from that news segment. The following week LifeiNstyle Products were again featured on the same regional news channel 9 which highlighted the KFS EASY PLATE, resulting in the retail of over 200 sets over the next few days. The NSW Hunter Valley Tourism Department took delivery of 1000 plates for promotional events they hold with wine makers.
LifeiNstyle Products is now expanding its product range into other inventions and innovations that are either in production as the Aussie Ice Chest and KFS products, No Buts About it or at the prototype stage.
